Karazhan 9/13: Shade of Aran
|
Date: 30.06.2008 21:27

|
|
|
The Shade of Aran is a boss in the abandoned tower of Karazhan. He is the spirit of Nielas Aran, the father of Medivh - the previous occupant of Karazhan. He is located in the Guardian's Library, which is a small, circular room with one door that closes and locks as soon as the fight begins.
The Shade of Aran is an optional boss. However, after he is defeated, a teleport to his room becomes available from Berthold , and all trash mobs from the Curator to Aran (exc. one pack outside Illhoof's door) cease to respawn.
The key to success is survival. The Shade of Aran's basic attacks are not very dangerous, but the special attacks are deadly. Each raid member must pay attention to which attack is upcoming; nobody can sit back and just do their usual routine. Once everybody learns how to move (or when not to move), the fight actually becomes rather easy.
In order to avoid the Magnetic Pull/Arcane Explosion everybody must run to the outer wall of the room, the Blizzard forces people towards the center (or the other side of the room), and Flame Wreath inhibits movement. Beyond this, casters want to stay outside the AoE silence and classes with spell interrupt abilities want to concentrate on what he's casting.
The encounter cannot be reset.

First attempts in 3D Arts for the new Website

good morning everyone, i've decided to write a little but interesting news about our current progress on our new website.
as the one responsible for the design (shame that no qualified designer replied to our job offer) i went away from just photoshopping and tried my first steps in 3d design. it actually looks pretty -shit- but that means it can only get better.
anyway, after playing around with some basic tools and objects some kind of a ball was the result. the next step was adding "aXs-Gaming" to it (somehow). a more detailed version can be viewed here, here and here. that's it ! i said it is simple :p i also made some screenshots from different positions as left, right, bottom and top. theres also one from behind, one from the inside and one from the near left.
the last step was just experimental with adding a sky in the background. last but not least i was thinking forward how to make a nice content box.. i just did it in a short period of time but its not that bad. the 3d version was just for testing purpose.
sooo.. after a lot of pictures i hope you know whats going on atm.
almost forgot: there will be a new interview soon - stay tuned !
have a nice weekend

Karazhan 8/13: Terestian Illhoof

Terestian Illhoof is a corrupted satyr in the Repository of Karazhan. He hides in a secret passage behind a bookshelf in the library. Cleansing of his presence will halt the respawning of demons directly by the bookshelf. He is an optional boss, but his loot table makes his death profitable to most adventurers.
Both have a low-aggro range - you can sneak around the side at the start, and rez everyone in the room with no difficulty.

Karazhan 7/13: The Curator

|
|
|
|
The Curator is an Arcane Guardian boss in the Menagerie in Karazhan. It is not optional. Raids wanting to reach the bosses behind it must first defeat The Curator. The encounter is not difficult to learn, but requires good gear. A raid able to defeat this boss is in principle equipped well enough to defeat all the following bosses, save perhaps Nightbane and Prince Malchezaar.
Killing the Curator is basically a gear check. It's not a coincidence that this boss drops the first class set tokens - they really want to be earned. There's not much strategy or room for fancy maneuvers - either the raid has the required DPS and the necessary mana endurance, or it does not.
The fight consists of four possible phases. Most of the fight consists of two alternating phases: a Flare Phase (which lasts 90 seconds) followed by an Evocation Phase (which lasts 20 seconds). Once the Curator's health drops below 15% it enters the Enrage phase, when it stops summoning Flares and Evocating, but melees and casts Hateful Bolts more rapidly. If it is still alive ten minutes after the pull, it enters the Berserk phase and wipes the raid in a few seconds.
Watch out for the next Karazhan Episode "Karazhan 8/13: Terestian Illhoof".

hey everyone,
i can't believe that another year is over again, well.. dear ladies and gents, fellow visitors, members, friends, aunt and uncle, grandma and grandpa, dog and cat, bird and hedgehog and everyone else: i would like to announce that today, we're celebrating our 5th Birthday.
we thought about adding a new cool header for our website with a cake in it, but to be honest nobody was in the mood so we thought this time, we'll just write a news since we already made crazy events in the past years. then we thought about doing a quiz in our public channel but in the fact that it is absolutely nothing special we quickly had our mind on other things. giving out prizes for something was my idea first but due to the lack of interest in our x-mas special it would've been useless aswell.
you won't believe it but there's one new thing we've decided on.. the Interviews section ! tadaaa.. from now on we're gonna pick some people, asking them a lot of things and i guess it will be interesting to hear some more details or specific things. you can also apply if you want to get interviewed, click on the link above for more info. and as i promised, as a little present we made an interview with NiNa^, was pretty funny and i guess the quality of the questions will improve (come on this was our first one ^^).
anyway, i would like to say a big thanks to everyone who was supporting us in the past 5 years, thanks to all the people in our public channel #axs-gaming and of course to all members of aXs-Gaming. thanks also to the friendships we made during our sponsoring - even when it is business i think theres still some more behind the whole thing.
last but not least as soon as i'll got some time i'll finish the history section because i think it needs to be done as we're missing a few years of information. some minor changes will appear here and there and someday, you'll just see the new website in all fame and glory.
since i wrote a lot of info about whats happening here before, i'm out of content for this birthday news. shaaaame..

**edit: we gonna put up the new section tomorrow, the news will get edited again so no worries
***edit: new section Interviews revealed !

Massive Spam Attacks taken down !
|
Date: 14.06.2008 01:24

|
|
|
|
after receiving more than hundred's of daily spam emails we took a day off to play around with new spam filters. we tested several filter and systems and are currently running more than 12 high sensitive anti spam filters to protect your email service and of course our members and sponsored clans who got a mailbox running.
according to this the total amount of received spam in the last week was 0.0% !
if you're running an email box of axs-gaming.com then please make sure to activate those with the new option simply called "spam filters". if you may get in trouble with not getting mails (which shouldn't really happen at all because it's working great) let us know immediately. we were running the test phase for about 1 week so everything should be sorted.
off topic: aXs-Gaming will celebrate it's 5th birthday in a few days - so come back soon if you want a piece of cake !

This one goes to all World of Warcraft Guilds out there...
|
Date: 09.06.2008 22:11
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
... aXs-Gaming is currently looking for a high end-game guild to support in any way.
i know i promised to avoid any activities on the world of warcraft squad but it is time to handle some things. i'm not a wow player and i don't know anything about it but after a few chats with Escavienne, she told the the most important parts and the requirements as good as she could. so, with my minor knowledge i'll try to make an recruitment post, enjoy...
since Escavienne wasn't able to build up a decent guild and all her attempts failed she will from now keep her work up with blogging stuff since she's here for a long time and did all the best from the beginning. it just seems there is no way at the moment on her server to get it done so since we got a few wow experienced members we decided to keep up with the idea adding a world of warcraft squad.
you don't have to change your guildname or everything according to the ingame management. you'll just get integrated in our clan. every rule and every decision is still up to you. aXs-Gaming won't take any actions into your way of handling things, but we'll contact you as soon as possible if your progress is slowing down or not getting forward.
what aXs-Gaming can offer your guild:
- a professional wow-themed website (alpha stadium, we stopped working on it but would start again as soon as possible), designed and coded by aXsMedia
- own teamspeak/ventrilo servers up to 128 slots
- support by our public relations team
- email accounts (pop3/webmail - name@axs-gaming.com)
- webspace for your files and private webspace for your members
- psybnc bouncers for irc
- a shoutcast server for live raids/events or just for fun
- a forum integrated to the wow website
- a raid managing system
- scripted popups (like the wow armory)
- benefit from our sponsors/partners
- play in a mature and dedicated team full of experience and professionality
what aXs-Gaming require:
- high end raiding guild (at least you should have killed illidan)
- mature players (18+)
- a structured system as in leadership and classleadership
- active newsposter and community activities
- at least one who can create/publish proper ingame videos of your effort
- active raiding is a must
if you think you're guild met our requirements and you're interested, please send an email to Escavienne or vierra.
regards

Server First: Naxxramas - Kel'Thuzad Down
|
Date: 08.06.2008 04:22
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Naxxramas is a 40-man raid instance floating above the Eastern Plaguelands. It has the shape of a necropolis and has the questionable honor to serve as the seat of one of the Lich King's most powerful officers, the dreaded lich Kel'Thuzad.
An ancient Nerubian ziggurat, Naxxramas was torn free from the ground by agents of the Lich King to serve as Kel'Thuzad's base of operations as he spreads the plague throughout Lordaeron.
Due to Kel'Thuzad fighting a war against the Scarlet Crusade, the Argent Dawn, the Forsaken and the humans of the Alliance, as well as constant incursions of adventurers from every race and nation into the Scourge-controlled Plaguelands on a daily basis, his forces have been severely taxed to maintain the security of his necropolis. But now the gates of Naxxramas are open, Kel'Thuzad's new forces are rapidly sweeping away all opposition to the Scourge. There are also rumors about adding a questline for the cleansing of the Corrupted Ashbringer including Lord Tirion Fordring of the Silver Hand himself though ingame quest text says the cleansing of the Corrupted Ashbringer is impossible.
The instance was regarded as the most difficult before the release of Burning Crusade, and should not be attempted without at least 40 well-equipped (preferably Tier 2 or Tier 2.5 armor) players. Naxxramas is also the home of many of the pre-BC most powerful items, and 60+ quests with rewards and all Tier 3 items available in the game. With the release of The Burning Crusade, finishing this instance still requires 20-30 well-equipped level 70 players. The dungeon was added in patch 1.11, making it the last non-expansion instance added to the core game as well as the last 40 man instance in non-expansion World of Warcraft.
We started at around 18CET and finally downed Kel'Thuzad at around 03:00CET. After a lot of Wipes, Laughs, Tactic discussions and not to forget a lot of Corpse Run's, we did a Server First as nobody else finished off Naxxramas on our Server Darkspear.
We had a stable group around 30-35 Players from several Guilds like Play Out, Club Drama, Vesper, Cooldown and so on.
My respect for those, who finished this extremely hard Raid-Instance at Level 60.
Recently it was announced that with the release of the new Wrath of the Lich King expansion, Naxxramas will be moving back to Northrend, where it will be retuned to be the first raid dungeon where it, as well as all other raid dungeons will have a 10/25 man version.
So, we're coming back soon.

General Information about new Squads and the Website

welcome to another news with some information regarding our lovely clan aXs-Gaming.
as you may think we're doing nothing and sitting around, you're right.. a bit ! actually we gonna take a summerbreak to enjoy the good weather outside, but besides that we're already trying to start our comeback in unreal tournament 99 for some fun again.
i can't really say something about the unreal tournament 3 squad since nothing happens and the spirit of the scene is too low to start rolling a decent team, i guess time will tell.
we will soon offer an application for new games, you will be able to sign up as squadleader and/or member. the main point behind this is to get into other games and expand to multigaming. i personally doubt this method is kinda wise but so far theres no other opportunity for us. at the moment we've got a few games in mind which will be worth to focus on but same here as mentioned above, we'll have to see how it goes.
for those who got an aXs-Gaming email account: we're currently working on a webmailer ! great news isn't it? in the near future you will be able to check your emails from everywhere you want. we started 4 months ago, trying to find out how it even work but i think we're not far from finished anymore. and no worrys, its super ssl protected :]
what will come up in the next time? i guess we should really focus on designing a new website (i know we're talking about that for years) and finishing our -currently in alpha stadium- content management system.
all i can say, i'm pretty happy to see changes here in any way as soon as possible. you won't believe it or not, since i almost completly stopped playing something, the joy is back in playing around with the aXs-Gaming website, doing some graphics here and there and always keeping an eye on the security of our server and all whats left.
did you know, everytime when our psybnc goes down and we're all pissed about that (and of course i'm just a few clicks away from changing the server provider), it's up for ages and runs without problems.. i don't get it.
so.. did you also watched those clips here recently? looks like fun :p
greetings and have a nice weekend

Karazhan 6/13: The Crone
|
Date: 05.06.2008 22:43
|

|
|
|
|
|
|
Wizard of Oz is one of three possible Opera Event encounters in the Opera House in Karazhan. It includes Dorothee, Roar, Strawman, Tinhead, Dorothee's summoned dog Tito, and The Crone.
After all 4 major characters have died, The Crone spawns. She has no vulnerabilities, so the MT should pick her up immediately. She spawns cyclones that will knock raid members straight up into the air, dealing a significant (but not fatal) amount of damage; HoT's can keep the cycloned victims alive. When you land, you will take fall damage as well. They are avoidable, and any slow fall ability will also negate fall damage. Cyclone does not stun, so instant cast spells can be used in midair. The cyclones move slowly around the room in a group, and can cross the center of the stage, so it is unsafe to move strictly clockwise or counter-clockwise. Someone should be continuously calling out the cyclones position and direction so everyone can adjust. The Crone does not have a lot of HP; this phase is much easier than the first.
Watch out for the next Karazhan Episode "Karazhan 7/13: The Curator".
