Karazhan 13/13: Prince Malchezaar Date: 31.08.2008 06:13
News Author: Escavienne
Comments: 0
Little is known about him except that he is a Man'ari Eredar, he claims to be a Prince, and he is a Member of the Burning Legion.
It is unknown how or when he arrived at Karazhan, or what his purpose there is. He apparently arrived while some agents of the Violet Eye were still alive inside Karazhan, notably Keanna. It was likely shortly before Karazhan was sealed, as the Violet Eye were aware of Keanna's death. At some point, he somehow obtained Grom Hellscream's axe, Gorehowl.

Due to his location at the top of Karazhan, he is considered by many to be the tower's final boss. However, some used to consider the creature Nightbane to be the true final boss of Karazhan, due to his superior difficulty in the early days of the dungeon's release. Their comparative difficulty is now disputed.

In any case, Prince Malchezaar is a difficult boss for raids when they first reach him. Beating him requires solid gear on everyone: The tank, the damage-dealers, and the healers. It also requires skilled execution by all players.

Prince Malchezaar can be encountered after the Chess event and controls all of the trash between the Game Room and Netherspace.

My recent Videoclips were taken from Youtube all the time. I decided to make the final Clip of Karazhan on my own.
Everything you see below is 100% Escavienne. I also had some negative feedback according to "just-being-a-clicker" but as if I would care about that.

Karazhan 12/13: Netherspite Date: 13.08.2008 03:23
News Author: Escavienne
Comments: 0
Netherspite is an immense nether dragon found lurking in the Celestial Watch, Medivh's personal observatory. As the only dragon found inside the dark tower, he will use his otherworldly powers to vanquish any creatures that attempt to go near him. This dragon's death is not required for further progress to Prince Malchezaar but he does control the trash between the Shade of Aran and the Chess Event.

Netherspite patrols the back section of his room, but his aggro radius is not particularly large allowing the entire raid to comfortably enter the room before the pull. The fight is entirely tactical: other than the enrage time the players' gear does not play as large a part in this fight as it does others. The room itself is enormous, allowing plenty of room for players to maneuver. It is shaped like a square with a semicircular balcony attached to the far end.

There are two phases to this fight that Netherspite alternates between. The Portal phase, (the first one) lasts for one minute, and the Banish phase (the second one), lasts for half a minute. He alternates between these two at the given rate until dead or enraged.

At the beginning of this phase, three portals of different colors will spawn at fixed locations in the room and will begin emitting a beam of their respective color (see below) towards Netherspite. The beams do not slowly move toward him, but rather appear touching Netherspite once they are created.

If the beams are allowed to hit Netherspite freely, they grant him stacking buffs which strengthen or even heal him. The buffs on Netherspite last 5 seconds from last application (instead of the 8 to 20 seconds they do on players). The beams can (and must) be blocked by players who position themselves between a portal and Netherspite. Players blocking the beams are also affected by a stacking buff, having both a positive and a negative effect which grows more extreme with each second that the player spends blocking a beam. Although the positive effects are quite helpful for the fight, the negative effect makes it difficult (but certainly not impossible) for one player to block a beam for the complete duration of the Portal phase.

Karazhan 11/13: Nightbane Date: 10.08.2008 00:56
News Author: Escavienne

Nightbane is a summonable raid boss in Karazhan. He is a fiery skeletal dragon, transformed by Medivh from Arcanagos and formerly of the Blue Dragonflight. While not the ruler of Karazhan, a position apparently held by Prince Malchezaar, many consider Nightbane to be the true final boss of the tower, due to his superior difficulty in the early days of the dungeon's release. A raid member must have completed the Medivh's Journal questline to summon the boss. This means Heroic Shattered Halls and Sethekk Halls must be partially completed in order to obtain the Blackened Urn, which is used to summon Nightbane.

Nightbane has two phases that he transitions between several times during the course of the fight. During the Ground Phase, tank the boss on the ground in a style reminiscent of Onyxia. At 75%, 50%, and 25% health, he enters the Flight Phase and takes to the sky, during which time the raid's attention is focused elsewhere. After Nightbane finishes casting Rain of Bones and then Smoking Blast he begins a slow descent back down to the platform (to roughly the same location as the original landing) and Phase One begins anew. He is not tauntable.

Karazhan 10/13: The Chess Event Date: 06.08.2008 22:00

Finally !

The Chess Event in Karazhan must to be solved in order to reach Prince Malchezaar. The raid plays a sort of chess match against Medivh.

Although the analogy to chess is usable (Doomguards are "stronger" than Footmen for example), it's not very strict. The pieces from the event behave very differently from real chess pieces, in particular player-controlled pieces autoattack enemy pieces they face, and the Kings are actually the strongest pieces in the game. In order to start the event, a player has to talk to the King piece of their own faction. The objective is to kill the enemy King without losing one's own King. If the game is won, a Dust Covered Chest appears with loot. Many players see this encounter as an easy fight, referring to it as "the free epics".

Afterwards the pieces are reset, and it is possible to play a friendly game within the raid. Whenever a game is going on, there is a silence debuff in the chess room to prevent clearing the trash mobs leading to Prince Malchezaar.

1-month news break over - autoplay disabled ! Date: 06.08.2008 20:39

ok after we kept the last news up for over a month it is time to get back to our usual newswriting. (you can still download the aXs-Gaming theme from our download section or here) we've also removed the autoplay of the theme since a few people already complained about it.

first of all i have to announce that we've updated our server in the last days with some security fixes and a new kernel. i personally dont even know what exactly a "kernel" is but thank god we got some geniouses sitting around and taking care of those stuff ! i hope you received mails about that. furthermore we've received some kind of bonus feature for our server which means our space has increased to an outstanding capacity of 3 terabyte. a good news for our psyBNC users: we made an uptime record in the last months due to a lot of hard work from our server admins - hope it will stay this way !

anyway we've announced earlier that we're working on our comeback in unreal tournament and are currenty looking for some additional players to keep the activity up. we could start just right now but to be honest.. its freaking hot outside and the weather is too nice to sit in front of your computer ! i just wanted to mention that because we said we're having a summerbreak and there are a few people who ask me all the time "when is after the summerbreak?" :p

actually nothing more happened... i started to continue working on the axs web 2.0 website but i'm hardly at home these days and pretty busy at work but i'll get back to it as soon as its getting rainy outside - or at least cold (or in other words: worth to stay at home).

a few weeks ago we've added a new feature to our cms: a player specific user gallery ! everyone of our members got their own gallery which is accessible from their own profile and with the quicklink in the gallery section. it's not even worth to mention but since i'm running out of ideas for this news it fits perfectly.

i'm sure we will see more world of warcraft related news in the next time again because i told Escavienne to hold it back because of our theme news.

last but not least there will be more news from my side in the next time aswell - stay tuned !

enjoy the rest of the summer

dear fellow visitors of aXs-Gaming and everyone who just popped in...

i want to say a big thanks to our member PLANGA who created us an awesome theme, only for aXs-Gaming.
PLANGA played for us in the early years but left soon because of his career in musical business and as we can hear, hes's pretty successfull. but even in unreal tournament he was a tactical genious ! one of the best attacker that the scene ever saw, he always made up his way trough the very protected enemy base and caputered a lot of flags.

today, PLANGA is most likely retired from being active in unreal tournament, but for us and aXs-Gaming, he will be a friend for life. we received this nice track yesterday which is now our title theme of aXs-Gaming. i wish you all the best in your further career mate.

Karazhan 9/13: Shade of Aran Date: 30.06.2008 21:27
News Author: Escavienne
Comments: 0
The Shade of Aran is a boss in the abandoned tower of Karazhan. He is the spirit of Nielas Aran, the father of Medivh - the previous occupant of Karazhan. He is located in the Guardian's Library, which is a small, circular room with one door that closes and locks as soon as the fight begins.

The Shade of Aran is an optional boss. However, after he is defeated, a teleport to his room becomes available from Berthold , and all trash mobs from the Curator to Aran (exc. one pack outside Illhoof's door) cease to respawn.

The key to success is survival. The Shade of Aran's basic attacks are not very dangerous, but the special attacks are deadly. Each raid member must pay attention to which attack is upcoming; nobody can sit back and just do their usual routine. Once everybody learns how to move (or when not to move), the fight actually becomes rather easy.

In order to avoid the Magnetic Pull/Arcane Explosion everybody must run to the outer wall of the room, the Blizzard forces people towards the center (or the other side of the room), and Flame Wreath inhibits movement. Beyond this, casters want to stay outside the AoE silence and classes with spell interrupt abilities want to concentrate on what he's casting.

The encounter cannot be reset.

First attempts in 3D Arts for the new Website Date: 28.06.2008 01:04

good morning everyone, i've decided to write a little but interesting news about our current progress on our new website.

as the one responsible for the design (shame that no qualified designer replied to our job offer) i went away from just photoshopping and tried my first steps in 3d design. it actually looks pretty -shit- but that means it can only get better.

anyway, after playing around with some basic tools and objects some kind of a ball was the result. the next step was adding "aXs-Gaming" to it (somehow). a more detailed version can be viewed here, here and here. that's it ! i said it is simple :p i also made some screenshots from different positions as left, right, bottom and top. theres also one from behind, one from the inside and one from the near left.

the last step was just experimental with adding a sky in the background. last but not least i was thinking forward how to make a nice content box.. i just did it in a short period of time but its not that bad. the 3d version was just for testing purpose.

sooo.. after a lot of pictures i hope you know whats going on atm.
almost forgot: there will be a new interview soon - stay tuned !

have a nice weekend

Karazhan 8/13: Terestian Illhoof Date: 26.06.2008 19:52

Terestian Illhoof is a corrupted satyr in the Repository of Karazhan. He hides in a secret passage behind a bookshelf in the library. Cleansing of his presence will halt the respawning of demons directly by the bookshelf. He is an optional boss, but his loot table makes his death profitable to most adventurers.

Both have a low-aggro range - you can sneak around the side at the start, and rez everyone in the room with no difficulty.
